This book is a translation of an extract from Jawahir al-Bihar fi Fada'il al-Nabi al-Mukhtar ﷺ by al-Shaykh Yusuf ibn Isma'il al-Nabhani on the virtues and specialties of the Chosen Prophet ﷺ based on the writings of al-Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami in three of his books, Sharh al-Hamziyah, Sharh al-Shama’il and al-Fatawa al-Hadithiyah – with foreword by al-Ustadhah Khairulnizah Abdul Hamid.
The key focus of this book is the extensive elaborations of al-Imam Ibn Hajar on the superiority of the Prophet ﷺ among the creation. Within those elaborations, al-Imam Ibn Hajar quoted Hadith narrations revealing that Allah Ta’ala created the skies and the earth, Heaven and Hell, mankind and all creation only because of His Prophet ﷺ.
On top of those, al-Imam Ibn Hajar explains about the Muhammadan Light being the first creation that Allah Ta’ala created before everything else, the numerous virtues of the Prophet ﷺ from the creation of mankind to his noble birth, as well as descriptions of his beautiful human characteristics ﷺ.
This authorship by al-Imam Ibn Hajar – a renowned Shafi’i scholar – highlights the deep interconnection between knowledge, spirituality and love for the Prophet ﷺ that runs throughout the Islamic scholarly tradition.
About the Author:
Al-Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami
Al-Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami (909H-974H) was most well-known as a prominent Shafi’i jurist. He learnt from the most renowned jurists of Egypt in his era, such as Shaykh al-Islam Zakariya al-Ansari and Shihab al-Din al-Ramli. He later taught in Makkah al-Mukarramah, and some of his students eventually became great jurists in the 10th Hijri century.

Yusuf ibn Isma'il al-Nabhani
Al-Shaykh Yusuf ibn Isma'il al-Nabhani (1849-1932) was from the Levant and was a scholar in many disciplines such as Islamic Jurisprudence and Sufism. He served as Chief Justice of the Court of Human Rights in Beirut for over 20 years and was devoted to knowledge, literature, composing poems and writing books, especially in defence of his beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Muhammad Zulhikam Jamil is a freelance Arabic-to-English and Arabic-to-Malay script translator particularly in the field of Islamic knowledge with an experience of over 15 years. Majority of his translation works stem from his interest in themes relating to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
